In this piece I capture my experience of an undergraduate college degree. The piece is my final way of saying thank you and goodbye to my teachers, friends, and mentors at Arizona State University. Every laugh in the courtyard, brain-exploding lecture, performance at Gammage, and conversation with Dr. Albie Micklich is represented in this piece.

By definition, a seer is a person who can see what the future holds through supernatural insight. Seer for solo bassoon is a narrative, "choose your own adventure" piece where bassoonists get to pick not only which of 16 fragments to perform but also the order in which they perform them.
The beginning of the piece serves as a prelude and depicts falling into a trance state. The middle section represents the fragments of one's future that performers must interpret and piece together to tell the future. The last section of the piece serves as a postlude and depicts the performer falling out of their trance state. The fragments of the future become more fragmented as technical passages buildup and awaken the performer from their trance. The future is often blurry. We get fragments at most throughout life and there is no one correct path. Performers are encouraged to reflect on their life experiences and create their own path through the music to tell the story they want to tell.

The official Urban Dictionary defines "villain era" as when '"you're tired [of] being a pushover to others and finally start to say no.'"
"Villain Era" for soprano and piano is my first art song. Premiered and workshopped at the Collaborative Piano Institute at Louisiana State University in June 2024, the lyrics are taken from my personal journal from the months of October 2023, through April 2024: a time when I was beginning graduate school in a new area and was also grieving a breakup.

"An Exceptionally Murderous Escape Room" is a musical depiction of what might happen if you were to take a group of friends with you to explore a recently popular escape room that no one seems to be able to come out of. The bassoon (being the “clown of the orchestra”) lends a more satirical take on the horror genre and helps make a rather dark concept become more comical through the use of reed crows, multiphonics, and an aleatoric opening.
This piece is available as a bassoon quintet or for a bassoon ensemble.

The title borrows Meraki from the Greek language which loosely translates “to do something with love, passion, creativity, and soul.” The work is meant to be played around the audience; meaning that the musicians are spaced out around a performance space. This piece was written during the Fall of 2024 and was finalized in March of 2025. It started off as a an exploration of feelings of burnout and took on a life of itself.
